Work closely with refugee families as they adjust and acclimate to life in Rochester. This position requires the most time and interaction with families!
Duties Could Include: You will be communicating and working directly with families up to five years after arrival in the United States.
- Spending time with the family in their home practicing conversational English
- Helping clients familiarize with neighborhood resources (parks, library, etc.)
- Driving clients to appointments and sometimes attending to help with advocacy
- Educating on general housekeeping/cleanliness
- Learning about the clients' financial literacy from their home country and applying that knowledge to US finances.
Schedule: Volunteers have the freedom to establish their own schedule, including weekends. This will be discussed with staff prior to volunteering.
