Navigating personal finances can be challenging especially for newcomers adjusting to a new country and financial system. As a volunteer, you will lead financial literacy classes designed to empower refugee families to make informed financial decisions and manage their money with confidence.
Through interactive education, guidance, and accessible resources, you will help participants gain the knowledge, and skills needed to achieve financial stability and self-sufficiency. The goal is to enable individuals and families to have a better understand of budgeting, saving, banking, and other financial responsibilities.
Duties Include:
• Providing interactive education and accessible resources
• Helping families create realistic household budgets
• Teaching participants about banking systems and responsible credit card use
• Explaining basic tax planning concepts and assisting with understanding tax
filing processes
• Guiding families in building and maintaining an emergency fund
• Facilitating one on one sessions or group workshops
Schedule: Volunteers have the freedom to establish their own schedule, including weekends. This will be discussed with staff prior to volunteering.
