Volunteer: Companion Support Volunteer

We are seeking compassionate, reliable volunteers to provide one-on-one companionship to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD). As a Companion Support Volunteer, you will spend meaningful time engaging in shared activities, building trust, and helping individuals feel connected and supported socially and emotionally. Schedule is variable and flexible.

Responsibilities:

Spend one-on-one time with individuals in a supportive, respectful wayEngage in shared activities such asPlaying board gamesParticipating in arts and craftsTaking walks indoors and outdoorsConverse with individuals in positive trusting wayBring a positive presence by offering emotional support, patience, and kindnessCollaborate with staff by checking in about participant needs or preferences, and sharing feedback from your visits

Qualifications:

Friendly, patient, and empatheticComfortable interacting with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesStrong communication skills, comfortable engaging with individuals who may use a variety of communication methodsPunctual, dependable, able to commit to consistent volunteer scheduleAbility to treat all individuals with dignity, respect, and without judgementWilling to collaborate with staff, caregivers, and other volunteersBackground check and training required
